Bhapa Illish (Steamed Hilsa with mustard)

                                                    BHAPA HILSA

Hilsa fish is most loved among all fishes, this fish is very tender and soft and am sure once who taste Hilsa will want to have it again. Bhapa Hilsa is a simple receipe cooked in mustard paste.


Ingredients:

Hilsa fish slices (4-5 pieces).

Mustard paste (150gms of mustard pasted and strained).
Salt to taste.
Turmeric powder (3 tea spoons).
Green chillies (5-6).
Poppy seeds paste (1 Table spoon).
Mustard oil.

Procedure:

Wash the fish sclices neatly and add salt and 2tsp of turmeric powder and set aside. Now take oil in a pan and shallow fry the fishes.

GAS STOVE: In a tight steel tiffin box place all the ingredients i.e., mustard paste, poppy seeds paste, salt, 1tsp turmeric powder, green chillies, mustard oil (6-7) Table spoons and mix properly and now slowly add slightly fried fish slices to it see that the paste covers over the fish pieces add very little amount of water say about 2-3 Table spoons close the lid. (U CAN ADD WATER AS PER YOUR  CONSISTENCY IS REQUIRED)
Now place a big kadai on stove and add water to it and when the water starts to boil place the tiffin box inside it and let it boil for 10-12 minutes, now remove the box u can find the fishes cooked and mustard paste neatly penetrates into it. Now serve it hot with hot steaming rice.

MICROWAVE: In a microwave safe bowl mix all the ingredients  i.e., mustard paste, poppy seeds paste, salt, 1tsp turmeric powder, green chillies, mustard oil (6-7) Table spoons now dip fish slices in to the paste and add very litle amount of water. Cook it in the microwave mode for 10 min and turn the sclices upside down the cook it again for 4-5min. Now serve it hot with hot steamed rice.
